New ‘budget-luxury’ hotel designed by Soho House opens in Bristol – Business Live

A new ‘budget-luxury’ hotel and diner concept has opened in Bristol, creating 60 jobs.

Mollie’s at Cribbs Causeway was designed by private members club Soho House.

It is only the second Mollie’s hotel to open in the UK; the first was in 2019 with a motel, diner and drive-thru in Buckland, in Oxfordshire.

A total of £15m was invested into the venue, which is aimed at business travellers as well as leisure seekers, including families.

It has 123 rooms across three floors; all-day food and cocktails served at the 195-cover diner; a heated terrace; and a communal workspace with free tea and coffee (it’s Mollie’s own artisanal house blend).

Mollie’s is led by chief executive Darren Sweetland – the former EMEA finance director of Soho House and commercial finance at Tesco.

He said: “Mollie’s is a stylish, fun, brand new concept in hotels that is discerning, design-led and surprisingly affordable and we have high hopes that it will quickly become Britain’s favourite stopover.

“Cribbs Causeway, with its incredible links to Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and the South West, was the perfect choice for our second site.”

Mr Sweetland said that Mollie’s was “proud” that it had created 60 new jobs for the local economy.

He added: “[We are] hiring individuals from the surrounding area as part of our commitment to provide opportunity to people within the local community.

“Mollie’s also marks a new era of positivity for the UK hospitality sector, bringing employment, growth and energy to the market.”
